Reader with "Edit" capability.

Hi all, pardon my ignorance if that questions had been asked before,

are there any epub devices (e-ink) out there in which basic edit is part of the game?

I need todo a lot of proof reading and using tablet / surface is kind of big and clunky - but works. - its minor - fixes from scans ! -> 1 ->i etc these kind of things

\Pete

There is no eInk Reader that allows editing. But what you can do is highlight and annotate. Then after you finish reading, you can go back and edit the eBook. What other requirements do you have?

Agreed. Mark-up and annotate on the eInk device, then do the editing on a laptop (or whatever).

This is trivial. Convert the book to a text file and edit it on an Android reader. Onyx is probably best. Or a rooted Nook ST. Jota is a good text editor.

...unless what you're trying to edit is about the formatting...then a text file won't work.

I think the OP is just checking.basic scan errors so pure text may do. More advanced apps are available.

The OP is looking for an ePub capable device. That means the OP is not looking to proof a text file.

My guess is that part of the proofing is the formatting.

Are you planning on re-inserting all the formatting by hand after editing the text file? Bold, italic, underline, colour, font size, line spacing, margins, working table of contents? etc. etc. etc.?

Don't forget recreating the CSS and having to insert the classes as well as the rest of the eBook structure. It will be a nightmare for something that doesn't need t be done.
