Amazon DTP - "no-DRM was always the default"

Interesting story over on ElReg.

I certainly wasn't aware that DTP titles were by default non-DRM...would anyone with a Kindle and some DTP-bought books like to comment?

I have a few DTP books and they are DRM free.

In the past the only way to have DRM through DTP as far as I know was to upload an already DRM'd Mobi file made with Mobi Creator.

Yes, essentially this change just made it easier for authors to add DRM if they want.

(For the record, I left mine DRM-free.)
