SDK
Hi people. Just coming back from Kiev
Here's the deal. Our programmers have obviously built a SDK, they just do not have the personal resources right now to write the documentation for it. So for those willing to take the jump without documentation, just PM me and we will send you the sources or send you a link. If someone is willing and able, be very welcome to write the docs. Thanks! |

Can you say whether this SDK is specifically for the most recent firmware releases, or if it will produce programs that work with slightly older firmwares (like say, the 2.0.4 release for 902)?

Welcome.
What versions of SDK are we talking about? At the moment there are several generation of devices in circulation 301 - 360 Firmware 15.3 302 - [69]0[23] - firmware 2.4? I am willing to help, but I am not a firmware programmer. I do program in C occasionally and I understand a bit of Russian (I used to be fluent speaker, but that was some 20 years ago). Can you tell us what the situation in Kiev is? Are *architects* and authors of the legendary 14.2 firmware still working on firmware? And the last question: Are you planning to sell PB360Plus? American customers are already playing with their devices. Also Russian forum has posts from PB360Plus owners. Can you tell us the price? |

I'll ask Igor, the programmer's boss, these questions and will answer them here.

While it's nice for the SDKs to become available, wouldn't it be nice if Pocketbook got their act together with proper file naming that indicated device/version etc. Every time something new is released by pocketbook there seems to be confusion about the device its for, and the real version; even a simple change log would be a bonus!

I'm going to try copying the new header and library into sergeyvl12's last SDK later today and give it a quick test. Edit: I copied over the new inkview.h and libinkview.so files into the appropriate places in sergeyvl12's pocketbook_arm_gnueabi directory, and the build of a test app went fine (after I also copied over libpng12.so from the new SDK to the /usr/arm-linux-gnueabi/lib directory). The new app seemed to work on my 902 with 2.0.4 firmware. So I guess that answers my question to mtravellerh above about whether the new SDK is compatible with older firmware releases. USB communication
One could use the reader as an external screen for a (Linux) notebook.
However the SDK doesn't expose any USB functions apart from IsUSBconnected(). Maybe one could just create a file on the flash drive and use it as a pipe. But this will heavily wear on the flash. Is it possible to establish a communication channel via USB? Maybe one can export the readers tmpfs (/dev/shm) as a USB block device or maybe there is an even easier way. Regards, Lars |

@lisper
just curious but why would you want to use an ebook reader as a linux display? |

@review: The reader's display is much easier to read when I'm outside in the sun.
Also I think it should be fast enough for emacs editing. |
