I'd like to get rid of graphic .sigs but not text ones. I enjoy a lot of people's .sig lines (especially as there's one out there quoting me! *egoboo*) and the religious ones don't bother me, but the piles of book covers got old fast. Am I missing a way to do this, or isn't there one?

Speaking out of total ignorance of the actual forum code:
I'd do it with CSS. Admittedly this would take some reworking of the CSS for the entire forum. From what I can tell with a quick look, .sigs don't have a class of their own, and a lot of the markup here is presentational rather than semantic, so this might be a non-trivial task. But if you assigned a class to .sigs, then you'd just provide the proper CSS for each user depending on their full/no-text/no-graphic/none .sig setting, and their browser would do all the heavy lifting. Note: classes with names like "smallfont" are an abomination unto Nuggan. Just sayin'. |

That sounds like a very good solution for now. You are totally right - the markup is totally outdated and definitely not schematic in any way. We were hoping to change that with some new upgrade in the code, which includes a new html markup as well, but testing has shown that the code is anything but stable yet so we have postponed.
I will look into the solution you proposed. |

Everyone quotes everyone anyways. Seems like it would be hard to ignore what a person posts all of the time.

Edit: not too hard actually! .vb_postbit + div img { display: none; } will remove all images in a signature... Last edited by Sweetpea; 07-06-2010 at 02:31 AM. |

Would love it if ignoring a user blocked their subsequently quoted material as well. My ability to resist flamebait isn't all that high. I'll look at that greasemonkey script, but it's ancient and they don't all work in chrome.
