Forum for the Opus
Now that the Cybook Opus is out and real, should a new forum be created or (I think it's better) the Gen3 forum renamed to Gen3 & Opus?

I think there should be separate forums for Mobipocket firmware and epub firmware.

Sorry, but there's Opus related posts all over at the Gen3 forum and I can't stand it anymore... Min. solution would be a sub-section for the Opus in the Gen3 forum (plus renaming it to Gen3 & Opus). Max. solution 4 different forums (Gen3-Mobi, Gen3-ePub, Opus-Mobi and Opus-ePub). |

Except that (hopefully soon) the Opus will have the option of Mobipocket firmware and the Gen3 will have the option of the ePUB firmware.
Hardware differences will remain, but I think the overall similarity of the hardware and the user interface mean that they would be better in one forum. |

I vote for 2 forums Gen3 AND Opus. It will be hard enough to seperate problems of ePub and Mobi on one device. But if I have Gen3 with one firmware version I can at least switch to the other one. (But I'm not interested in SDHC or accelerometer problems from the Opus or PDF formatting or...) |

Interesting discussion, please feel free to continue!
We are currently racking our brains over the different ways we could restructure the forums, a) to do justice to new and upcoming e-book readers b) to keep the forums as simple as possible without adding clutter or ambiguity. |

- Make one section for each company (e.g. Sony, Bookeen, Iliad etc.). Under this header you just have company related stuff. - Have sub-sections for each device (Bookeen > Gen3 / Opus / Other). - Under the sub-section for each device the structure is as now (e.g. for Gen3). |

E-Book Devices -- Sony ---- PRS-505 ------ Content ------ Accessories ------ ... and so on. Using this layout, important forum sections would get buried deep below the forum's main, which makes it harder for users to find their way around. Adding too many subforums makes it harder to find the right place to post in and to find the right place for answers. I would simplify it like this: E-Book Devices (current) -- Sony PRS-700 -- Sony PRS-505 (merge Content, Accessories, etc. in here as well) -- Amazon Kindle DX -- Amazon Kindle 2 -- ... In other words, I wouldn't go farther down than one subcategory. I would merge existing sub-subsections (like content, accessories) using appropriate thread prefixes with the main section of the respective device. So one device = one forum section. In addition, I would add a new parent forum called E-Book Devices (discontinued) where we could move existing sections over time when devices get replaced by newer devices. |

Yes, following my forum scheme from above, each device forum would have the prefixes to replace the current sub-subsections.
