Science Fiction/Mystery

Right now, the Fantasy/Mystery crossover subgenre is fairly popular. I like it myself, but I'm feeling a little burned out on it.

Is there a thriving Science Fiction/Mystery crossover subgenre? I'm aware of Asimov's R. Daneel Olivaw series, but not much else.

Any recommendations?

You could try Richard Morgan's Altered Carbon. Very, very popular violent detective thriller.

There is also the In Death series by J.D. Robb that takes place in the future.

There was an SF mystery anthology I've read in my teens that included (and was titled after) Asimov's The Naked Sun. I think it was the only one such I've ever encountered. I found the contents and here it is:

Take a look at As the Mirror Cracked, Encephalopath and Lambs Hide, Tigers Seek (not sci-fi) on my site, or ask others about them.

Also, if you can do sci-fi/mystery/humor, the Zakour-Ganem Zachary Nixon Johnson books are great:

Hmm, Several of Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan books include a fairly high mystery component to them. Off the top of my head, I think Memory, Cetganda, Komarr and Diplomatic Immunity all qualify to some extent. Oh almost forgot, the Novella Mountains of Mourning.

Kristine Kathryn Rusch has her "Retrieval Artist" series that starts with "The Disappeared". "The Disappeared" reads just a little differently than the rest of the series - it actually sets up the rest of the series. But I've enjoyed listening to them from Audible (the first one was offered free, which is what made me try it).

I'm almost finished listening to "The Disappeared". I didn't realize it was part of a series.

Looks like there are six more books. Well, I guess I know how I'll be using my Audible credits for the next couple of months.

Sorry... I've taken down the perfect bundle. I wasn't going to make a big deal about it, but the perfect bundle wasn't working out as a product. I may re-introduce it later, or substitute it with some other configuration... I don't know yet.
