A Harp in Lowndes Square by Rachel Ferguson originally published in 1936 This story tells of Vere and James, twins gifted with ‘the sight,’ which allows them to see and even experience scenes from the past (including one, at Hampton Court, involving royalty). The twins are already aware of their mother’s troubled relationship with her own mother, the formidable Lady Vallant, but the discovery of an Aunt Myra, who died young and of whom their mother has never spoken, leads them to uncover the family’s tragic past. Rachel Ethelreda Ferguson (1892-1957) was born in Hampton Wick. She published twelve novels. Others include A Footman for the Peacock (1940) and Evenfield (1942). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYSGZM4/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01LYSGZM4/ https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LYSGZM4/ |

The Hero of Saint Roger by Jerrard Tickell Nestled in the warmth of the Caribbean, the island of Saint Roger is in many ways idyllic and consequently a popular destination for tourists… Until one day, disaster strikes. With their home all but destroyed, the islanders must re-build their prosperity, but just a few years after the end of the Second World War, that is more easily said than done. Ingenuity and leadership is called for. And an ingenious plan is duly hatched. A plan that is both ingenious and perhaps, morally questionable. As the Prefect of Saint Roger heads to France to bring the plan to fruition, he makes sure that the local priest has been kept in the dark… Jerrard Tickell's books, a number of which have been made into successful movies, include Moon Squadron, Island Rescue and Hussar Honeymoon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072HGJ5FK/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072HGJ5FK/ https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B072HGJ5FK/ |

Amazon UK Today's BIG DEAL:
All the Poldark books are on offer for £0.99 each. I highly recommend this series. Set in Cornwall from 1783 through to 1820, it follows the fortunes of the Poldark family, and their mining and other adventures. There's a current TV series from the BBC. The first two series cover the first four books. The third series is due to start broadcasting next weekend. |
