HELP!! Tables in doc. not right on Kindle after Conversion via Calibre
My husband has my old K2 and we have converted his Word doc. via Calibre into a mobi document to put on the Kindle but every time we convert it the conversion messes up the tables he has in the file. Is there a way to fix the Word doc. or put the tables in the Word doc. different so the tables will be right after conversion and look right on the Kindle?

Kindle does not support tables directly. The only workaround that I know of is to take a screen capture of the table and insert it as an image in the Mobipocket document at the right spot.

I agree with susan_cassidy. Her way is the best way.
Another way that might work is to save the DOC file as a PDF, but then you lose text reflow and some functionality. If you go this route then make the document size 5.5 x 8 inches for a KDX or 3.6 x 4.8 inches for a K2 and keep the margins very small. That way it will be just the right size for a Kindle screen. Another possibilty, but a labor intensive one, is to convert the tables into monospaced text that aligns each line as though it were in a table. Unfortunately if you increase the font size too big the text will wrap and lose it's table-like appearance. When the first eraders came out with their small 6 inch screen, I guess table support seemed more problematic than beneficial. But it would be nice to have it now that we have larger screens. |

You might want to ask this question in the Calibre forum as well.
