Doc and Mobi formats
Calibre shows that I have most of my ebooks in the .mobi format, as well as one other format for each title. Why does my Kindle show many of my titles as .doc files? I hate the .doc format and would prefer to read a book in the .mobi format.

Because that's what you put in the library. It's not something Calibre did. It's something you did.

Perhaps it is referring to the "class" of file. MOBI supports both "documents" and "ebooks", both can be in MOBI file format. |

In the device driver for each, Move AZW3, Mobi to the top in the Kindle driver

Under BEHAVIOR (not Look and Feel), MOBI is checked as the output format.

Connect your device, then selectConfigure from the device icon. Tic any formats you CAN use. Set the order for the preferred forma. If none of the selected formats exist in the library, the first selected will be the Auto-convert choice |

Class of file? I thought MOBI was the file type, like .docx, .epub, .pdf. Is .mobi and .docx both listed under docs in my Kindle Library? I am trying to find a better format to read my ebooks. It seems that there are a lot of typos and really bad formatting with the .doc files.

I did learn about unchecking Personal Doc under the Mobi conversion options, which seems to make for a somewhat better looking book. Thanks for the reply and info.
