What is up with Borders ebooks?

I buy an ebook from Borders yesterday. I get an email saying to go to my e-library for download and the book isn't there. I call customer service, who advises me to wait for an hour and it will show up. I wake up this morning and its still not there. It shows in my transaction history, but it isn't in the library.

I can see why Borders is having financial problems. This is likely my last purchase from them.

After being on hold for a total of two hours I was told they would call me back within 48 hours to put the book into my library. I would not advise buying any e books from Borders.

One of the reasons Amazon has been so successful is because of their awesome customer service. Barnes & Noble isn't bad, but it still doesn't come close. Borders, on the other hand, is abysmal, especially lately. You can look at all the complaints about Borders on Consumerist and compare them with Amazon.

I wonder if the publisher is holding back until they receive payment from Border's.

I moved my entire Borders ebook Wish List to BooksOnBoard about two weeks ago. There used to be significant variability in the prices between the two sites, but not anymore! (not necessarily a good thing ... thanks HC).

Borders does use Kobo as the source of their ebook store, but for some reason I've always heard bad things about the Borders ebook store, and not Kobo. Basically the same sort of thing as the OP, Borders customers forced to wait forever to get what you paid for.

Wanted to update:

The book appeared in my e library this evening at around 9pm. So I bought it Friday and got it Monday evening. I am happy that I got the book, but still wont be buying anymore from Borders.

Not a fan of the Borders E-book experience. Every other store is accessible and easy. But for Borders there is always a problem. They have a lot of changes to make.

Funny I have bought a whole lot of books from them and have a rather extensive library on their servers and I have never had an issue. I always say that if you need to call tech support you bought the wrong product and/or dealing with the wrong company. My biggest complaint thus far is that their blackberry reader software will not allow me to use my gift card on the berry - in other words no real big troubbles.

They apparently had technical problems over the weekend. They sent me an email this evening apologizing for the problem downloading my ebook to my library, which has been fixed, along with a link for a complimentary gift card.
