Hello Doitsu, would it possible to add a GUI or json configuration item so we can supply our own JRE path? I don't like Java being installed systemwide.

You can select a custom Java path in the new 0.1.5 version via a java_path JSON entry.

I click on the icon for in the editor to run epubcheck and nothing happens. Can you please have a look? Thanks.

My java is 32-bit.
java version "1.8.0_211"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_211-b12)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.211-b12, mixed mode)

But the 0.1.6 epubcheck plugin works works no problem.

I've figured out what the problem was. With the 32-bit Java, the default stack size is too small for epubcheck 4.2.0. So a command needs to be added to increase the stack size. The 64-bit Java has no such problem.

This is for Windows if anyone doesn't know.

@JSWolf Thanks for your investigation! I'll add the -Xss512k parameter when the next EPUBCheck version is released.

But what about those trying to run the plugin now on 32-bit Java and it's not working? Not everyone can go back to a previous version or will know enough to try epubcheck from a command line.

If you wait, there will be a lot of people who will not be able to use epubcheck with Calibre's editor. Please fix it now instead of later.

So far you've been the only user who experienced this problem. Also, adding the additional Java parameter might break the plugin for 64bit Java users.

IMHO, installing the latest 64bit Java version is the better option.

Can you at least put installing the 64-bit java in the history notes and in the first post of this thread? That may help some.

Besides, there could be a lot of people with the issue, but as they aren't on M, have no idea how to contact you about it.

Has the fix for those running 32-bit Java been added to the plugin?

At work, there's a PC with Windows 7 (x32) and Java 32bits. I tested it with the current version of the plugin and it doesn't work.
When I added the '-Xss512k' parameter it worked again.

Thanks for testing this!

Did the latest version at least display a popup window with a StackOverflow error message?

No, it doesn't. When you click the plugin icon, the mouse pointer changes to busy mode, and then after a few seconds, get back to normal without doing anything or displaying any message. I didn't check the clipboard though. The StackOverflow message was probably there.

That's not good. Theoretically, it should have displayed a custom message, which I added to the code in the last version.
