BTW, if anyone hasn't bought from Diane Duane's site before, click the "How to use a coupon code" link on the left side of the page for instructions. It's not immediately obvious how to use them (you do so during the PayPal checkout process).

Had some irrational trouble with PayPal, but it worked out eventually.

It's a bit scary, especially on her larger bundles (and locks out those without a PayPal acct).

No, you don't have to have a Paypal account in order to pay with Paypal.

I'm not sure how that would work - since it asked me to either log into my account or create an account when I hit PayPal (and I was dumped into Paypal no matter which checkout button I used on the site).

I'd think those without a PayPal account would be even less likely to continue checkout, after hitting that screen - it is off-putting, even for someone who has done it before and I nearly didn't buy her bundle when she first had it on sale, because of the way the coupons work.

I believe I'm right in saying (and apologies if I'm wrong) that you can use Paypal to make a credit card payment without needing to create an account.

But I agree that the way the coupons work on Diane Duane's site is less than intuitive, which is why I pointed out the link which explains how to use them.

I was able to get the book by hitting the Oval-ish "Check Out with PayPal" button in the Shopping Cart. This opens a payment window with a choice to either pay with your PayPal account or enter your credit card details. The credit card transaction is then handled by PayPal, but you don't need an account. Only after doing this, and reviewing the order, can you enter the coupon code.

It's counter-intuitive, but there you have it.
