Associating files with a particular book...

I have a question about associating files with a particular book in Calibre.

For a given book I may have several text files containing notes, or possibly some programming source code files, or other filetypes of information that I find most convenient to associate with the book.

If the book folder gets renamed (because of title or author change), I want the files associated with the book to be moved into the new folder. Associated files seem to be discarded currently unless they have same name as the book.

I understand I can bundle up the files into a rar or zipfile with the same name as the book title. It is a bit inconvenient to do this though. So I wonder if I could add the filesnames associated with the book as Metadata - and if so, how to specify the filenames for the opf file. Does anyone know how to do this? Or if there is another approach I might take to accomplish the same goal?
