Yeah so jailbreaks, as a rule of thumb are usually inevitable given time, Kindles aren't exactly the star example of security. (remember, they thought this about iOS 15)

As always, if you want JB, stay on your current firmware, don't update, don't lose hope for a JB.

So far the only update past 5.17.1 I've seen is the 5.17.1.0.2 for the 2024 Paperwhite and Kindle Basic. Even less likely to be major changes in a point release.

So, I take it we still have no jailbreak for 5.17.1. But thank goodness 5.17.2 is only a minor revision as it should be easy to jailbreak once the 5.17.1 jailbreak exists. That is, of course, if there really is a version 5.17.2. And if there ever is a 5.17.1 jailbreak. Do I have that straight? My apologies to 5.17.1.0.2 if one exists.

Put your mind to rest. 5.17.1.0.2 does exist. At least it is downloadable for the 2024 Paperwhite 12th gen 2024 and the Kindle Basic 11th Gen 2024 editions which—for most people—would be sufficient proof of existence.

Well my Colorsoft is currently running 5.18.0.1.0.1, however this update is indeed not available for download on the Amazon website. As far as I know the Colorsoft is the only device supporting firmware 5.18 at the moment.
