Under US law this has been illegal since the 1975 introduction of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, despite companies often lying about it and putting "WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED" stickers and whatnot on them. A company may only void the warranty if damage has been caused by the user or 3rd party, and if they can prove it was not due to a defect in the product.

It’s a work of beauty. You’ll find guides with photos for all the replaceable parts, as well as a list of available parts for sale. I could have used something like this when I mangled my poor Kobo Aura One ages ago when I first started learning how to repair Kobos.

Thanks to iFixit’s tear down, I now know that the Kobo Libra Colour has a fixed eMMC for memory, and not a microSD card.



They take care to point out ways to get through the protective coating that is all over the motherboard.

They've also got instructions on updating the VCOM tuning, which done Reddit users have reported fixing their odd color tuning. Some units seem to look extremely washed out compared to others.

That's very useful. Thank you. I'll worry about that as soon as I've got everything set up and WiFi working properly.

It would have been nice if Kobo had created a calibration app on the Kobo to adjust these things, but calibrating via text file works, too.
