Wal-Mart Amazon Book Price war

See "Amazon, Wal-Mart battling over book pricing" on CNET.

The hot new book by genius Sarah Palin is only $9 thanks to Wal-Mart and Amazon mutual price reductions, and that's only the beginning of the battle.

Someone in the article said, "if anone's going to be the Wal-Mart of the Internet, it's going to be Wal-Mart," a funny comment.

The book price war affected Kindle prices for the books mentioned.

Yes, the genius remark above was sarcasm...

Too bad I can't order any of these from W-M for $8.99 (and get free shipping) due to Wisconsin's lame minimum markup law (retailers are required by law to charge a certain percentage over wholesale for every item - selling at a loss is illegal).

The one dollar reduction in price doesn't mean so much when you realize you have to pay sales tax if you buy thru WalMart online. At 8 1/2%, that kinda blows the savings. Also, shipping is not free on all books......just select ones.

With Amazon, you get free shipping with most items over $25, and no sales tax. With Prime, you have free two day shipping on any Amazon sold item.
