15 Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries (Sue Grafton) $1.99 each July 7th (Kindle US)

Today's US Kindle Daily Deal is the first fifteen books in Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone Alphabet series for $1.99 each. The overall page for the deal is here.

Kind of a shame they didn't do all twenty-two books to date, but I can't complain too much. About that, anyway; the continuing absence of a "buy all" button from this kind of offer, now...

Kobo seems to be price matching the Sue Grafton books.

These books and this deal are available at both Amazon.ca and Kobo in Canada. As I prefer Kobo, I was able to snag "C" to "E" at Can$1.99.

The other relevant point to note: the "big 6 (now 5)" sales, which have been occurring in the US, are now spilling over to Canada. Kobo doesn't advertise these one day sales but they are clearly coordinated (by HarperCollins, etc) across multi-national borders.

Wow, Kobo actually price matched something! I've always been interested in these books but stayed away from them because it just seems to be one of those never ending series. Is she planning to end it at Z? I'm so tempted to get the first few of them now, though. They're so cheap and I have a bit of money left on a chapters gift card. Oh, what to do, what to do.

She's always planned to end it at Z, and worked out a time scheme so that the series would proceed reasonably and reach its end at a credible point in the character's life. (As she said in one interview, "You're never going to have to watch Kinsey Millhone go through menopause.") It's not really a tightly-linked series anyway; there are recurring characters and mild points of characterization that are more enjoyable if you read them all, but they're basically standalone, and each works fine as an introduction if you just want to read a couple. I've always been partial to L, but that's probably just because it was the first one I read.

Now Barnes & Noble/Nook seems to be catching up, though be careful, because some are still full-price. Presumably they're in the process of repricing the first 15.

The first fifteen are from Holt (Macmillan), the ones after that are Putnam (Penguin).

Too bad I have all of them thru U (waiting for a sale on V+).

Thanks! All I needed were the I and J books, so I'm set, until the next one arrives.

FYI, O Is For Outlaw has the wrong cover (it has the L Is for Lawless cover). I've emailed B&N customer service and also posted on their "Nook issue" forum, so we'll see if it gets fixed.

Out of curiosity, do the B&N versions have the actual cover art? The ones from Amazon just have crappy looking Macmillan generic covers.
