Specific Recommendations from the Patricia Clark Memorial Library
I'm looking for omnibuses for long term reading. I have downloaded the Sherlock Holmes Omnibus, by Doyle (of course), and two compilations by Trollope, The Chronicles of Barsetshire, and The Complete Palliser Novels.
Please, if you have the knowledge, put in the valuable rec that will provide me with hours of reading time. I'm interested in omnibuses of series, not Delphi-esque Complete Works. Thanks in advance. |

Try one of the long series series by Hugh Walpole. Look him up on wikipedia for the proper sequence. One is the Herries series and the other is the London or Rising City series. I haven't read either one but they're on my kobo. I read his Jeremy series and really liked it.

He specialises in short stories, but thanks anyway. I seem to have one of his collections already, though the author's name drew a blank when you mentioned it.

EDIT : Just the type of omnibus that I was looking for, if not better than I expected. Last edited by Luffy; 03-17-2021 at 02:32 PM. |

I see people have already mentioned some I enjoy: Edgar Rice Burroughs, H. Rider Haggard.
But you might like to take a look at the Scarlet Pimpernel collection by Baroness Emmuska Orczy; also the Mr J.G. Reader series by Edgar Wallace (I couldn't really get into these the last time I tried, but might have been a mood thing). I was going to mention the collections of works by Saki, but these are more in what you called "Delphi-esque" mode. |

There are two by Anthony Trollope: The Paliser Omnibus and The Chronicles of Barsetshire. Both provide a lot of good reading.

Thanks to all of you. I am a bit at sea with some recs but I can google them to get a better picture. Thank you, and have a nice day.

One of the first things I got here were the Thinking Man omnibuses. There are two of them.
