Post Some interesting local library ebook stats...

My local (Buffalo, NY) paper did an article on eBooks at our local library system today. The article rambles a bit, but is largely positive. Most interesting are the various stats on titles and checkouts, both within the article and the bottom summary. And then there are the comments...

The article:
http://www.buffalonews.com/city/article712552.ece

Background details:
Our system is county-wide, with 37 city and town branches. County budget cutbacks for the last 5 or 6 years straight have reduced branches and branch hours significantly, along with acquisition budgets. BECPL signed up with OverDrive in mid 2008, and has grown the catalog fairly rapidly, given the budget cutbacks.

That's a good article.

I was very surprised to find out that the library in my little town has e-books. And very happy to check some out, now that's possible with a Kindle.

Thanks. Interesting article. I once actually borrowed a book from the Fairfax, Va public Library while at 31, 000 feet on a flight from Baltimore to Dallas
