10" Kindle Fire out by the holidays?

This was from a couple of weeks ago (Sept. 30th), and I meant to post it then but didn't get around to it. According to an an article at Digitimes, Amazon has contracted with Foxconn to begin producing a 10" Kindle Tablet. Amazon had wanted Foxconn to produce their 7" Kindle Fire, but Foxconn declined because they were too busy with Apple's iPad. Foxconn already produces Kindle eReaders for Amazon, and apparently they are now ready to go full steam ahead on the 10" Kindle tablet.

The article indicated that the 10" tablet would be ready before the holidays, but I find this very hard to believe. The 7" version isn't even expected to ship for almost a month.

Anyway, I hadn't seen this posted here, and Digitimes is fairly well respected. Personally, I'm holding out for the 10" device, so the sooner it's available the better.

When you say "holidays", do you mean Christmas? I think it's extremely unlikely that we'll see a 10" Amazon tablet by then. My bet would be next summer at the earliest.

I doubt it. My guess is March. edit: ^next summer actually seems more likely.

The sooner the better. Maybe they'll stealth it in sooner than summer, which would be fantastic.

As I said in my initial post, I too find it hard to believe that they will be releasing a 10" version by the holidays. However, I do believe we won't have to wait until the summer. My own guess is that it will be released late in the 1st quarter -- around March. This guess isn't based on much, just a couple of articles that have indicated the 10" version is supposedly right around the corner.

Unlikely. And I would want to see a 9" (1280x800, like Galaxy Tab 8.9) in any case.

A new article from Digitimes indicates that the 10" Kindle tablet will be released in the 1st half of 2012.

I wonder what they mean by second-generation? I'd expect more than just a larger screen.

Somewhere around the time of the iPad3 launch. I'm betting March, too.
