Secondly, Apple uses a higher quality lcd unlike the competitors. There is a reason why an IPS 24" monitor goes for $500+, while a TN 24" monitor is $199. People think Apple could sell a retina display along with a $249 price along with 32GB of space and that is an expectation that not even the Kindle Fire HD is able to handle. Amazon is even putting ads on theirs! Next year will be an upgrade to the iPad mini with faster processor, IGZO screen, and more ram. Don't expect a retina display. Magazines on the 1st gen Fire are indeed not good. But using Zinio rather than the Amazon viewer for magazines makes things much better.

I'd have purchased it if it had better specks and would have been content and never even consider purchasing the iPad. I believe there are a lot of people like me and Apple knows this. |

Folks looking to upgrade have to do their homework. There are good options now out there each with their pros and cons. Decisions, decisions.
Nice to have a choice amongst devices that will not put a big dent in the wallet. We can go on and on with this one has that and the other one doesn't. None of them at this point aren't good for the money spent to tell the truth. |

And oh yeah, one of the things people are mentioning across reviews and message boards... If you're going to buy one, go into the store, buy it, and open it right then and there in front of them so in case you don't like it, they can exchange it then and there. There are differences in the display, like some being fuzzy, others being warm, etc. Mine is perfect, but it does vary. |
