Dealing with Kindle ebooks in calibre

Nothing actually. When you connect an ereader, the icon seems to change with the ereader connected but the name shows as Device. This icon will be next to the Library icon since Location Manager handles both when a device is connected.

Converting a DRMed KFX book to epub using this tools worked very well, just with a minor drawback, it was a colored book with tons of images and became all balck and white after imported to calibre, there's any way to preserve the colors actually?

What device did you transfer it to calibre from? Amazon send black and white pictures to non colour kindles.

Oh so that's the reason. I imported it from a basic kindle, there's another way to get the actually colored book now that you can't use USB to kindle anymore?

Kindle for PC opens here at my windows on empty white screens, i can't even login.

But yes colour only via pc app v 2.4.0 (later versions don'twork and it won't work for mac) or from coloursoft kindle potentially though I dont know if that is possible yet..

Did you get it from the windows store?
If so, remove it and get the full version either from the link in the first thread or google for it.

If this eBook is available in ePub, buy the ePub and you will get color images if they are supposed to be in color.

Colour is on azw3 on K3 to PW1 models. Some older models need updated FW if FW is before 2017. See https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...MQC26VQQMM8XSW

The K1, K2, DX series don't do azw3.

Later than PW1 gets KFX, if updated to 2019 or later FW.

I am used to converting my ebooks into docx and editing them as I described in post #764 on page 51.

Recently my ebooks have been converted to kfx rather than azw3 as I am used to. The kfx is dedrm'd and can be read in caliber reader. The problem comes when you try to convert kfx to any other format.

Any suggestions?

As your posted error messages in message #764 suggest, you are not getting the entire KFX file (the CR! are partial files). @lkmiller and @jhowell gave you suggested actions in messages #766 and #767 in this thread. One ebook I have, the KFX file on my Kindle is a 'massive' 52KB but there are 4 CR! files in the assets directory totalling 14.5MB.

How are your ebooks being converted to KFX? Are you using Send to Kindle to send the ebook to Amazon and then syncing the converted by Amazon ebook to your Kindle and then copying it from your Kindle to calibre? Have you tried importing the .docx into calibre, converting it to azw3/KF8 or KFX and sending to your Kindle over a USB connection.

That calibre's ebook-viewer will open a KFX ebook suggests that you already have the needed plugins installed since the e-book viewer will convert formats other than azw3/KF8 to ePub before displaying them.
