This is incredibly weird. One call to Box produces no data. A second almost-identical call produces the correct data. I have no explanation at all. And up to now it has never failed for me.

Would either of you two be willing to run a patched CC APK? I think there might be a timing problem and I want to test for that.

It retries the failing call to Box. I am hoping that this will work because the almost-equivalent retry done immediately after the failure does get correct data. The debug log will contain info about whether it retried or not, and whether the retry succeeded.

@nqk & @Terisa de morgan: I am quite sure that finally I found the real problem, an unfortunate interaction between the web tools and the APK packaging tools. I made an APK (V4.0.0d) that should work. I will email it to you and make a general release once I get confirmation.

• Add a check box specifying a "simple search" that is much faster than the scan search because it does not support column prefixes, quotes, identical match searches, parenthesis, and AND/OR/NOT operators. A simple search looks only in titles (title_sort in CC base), authors, series, and tags.
• Small changes in preparation for requesting production status from Amazon Cloud Drive

My goal is to release CC w/cloud support to production once Amazon decides whether or not CC can connect to Amazon Cloud Drive. Dropbox, Microsoft, and Box are all already in production status.

Of course achieving this goal depends on no one finding serious problems during the rest of the beta cycle.

We will make CC generally available as soon as Amazon "approves" CC's Cloud Drive integration. Amazon's conditions explicitly forbid putting a non-approved app into production. I am willing to wait a few more days, given that the only other option is to remove Amazon support from CC.

Well so far everything is working as expected. Dropbox fine. No problems with sorting , searching, etc.
Waiting for Calibre 2.32 to test the template function.

By the way, i know you love the simple way, but are you planning to brng the GUI a little bit up to date (Lollipop Material design), not very important but would be a nice detail as you are going to do a version jump to 4.x.

I looked at this when I started the cloud work. It requires replacing some fundamental underlying Google-supplied compatibility code to newer Google-supplied compatibility code. When I changed it, everything broke. The grouping drawer wouldn't open and close, graphics moved around, colors were shifted toward red, and the action bar stopped working. In addition, Gingerbread support disappeared. After 2 days of fighting with it I decided that trying to fix all of this required much more effort than it was worth, especially given that I don't really like "material design".

Understandable. The effort is not worth it. As I said before it's not as important as eventual new features or new additions to the template functions.

Two pieces of news:

1. Calibre 2.32 supporting CC template functions is now out.
2. Amazon told us today that the Cloud Drive approval process will take multiple weeks.

Given the above, we have decided to release CC to production as soon as we have feedback from people using CC's templates, possibly as early as Sunday. Of course, if the feedback is that it doesn't work, then we will make other plans.
