I still buy physical books, but only one of two categories. New comics, especially those that won't be part of a subscription service like DC Universe Infinite or Marvel Unlimited, and books that I want to collect (special editions and stuff like that, to look pretty on the shelf when not in use).

I've given up on collecting books to put on shelves. It ended up that I seldom re-read them and I had to dust them since nothing says more about how often you look at those books than 6mm of dust collected on them.

On a rare occasion. Kindles (e-ink) don't do well with pictures, maps, charts, etc. So if I know a book has a lot of those things, I'll go for the physical book rather than the ebook.

I buy paper books if they're not available digitally and I really want it.
Or I buy special editions of books I love. Or I buy new/excellent quality paper books for library donations. |

My husband still prefers physical books so we have bought some recently. He is currently on restricted activity due to a surgery. He ran out of reading material. I offered to go to the library for him. He said "Don't you have something on one of those gadgets I could read?"
We don't have the same taste in books but I found some things he might like and put them on my Nook Glowlight 4+. I showed him how to turn it on, go to the library, and find the book. When I tried to show him how to change font style, size, line spacing or margins, he said "I don't want to play with it, I just want to read it." He is happily reading away using "Publishers defaults". It's driving me crazy. LOL I guess us Mobileread regulars really are different. |

Heh. My adoption of ebooks was somewhat forced (I ran out of storage space for paper books; before this I turned up my nose at ebooks - you know, crap like "give me real books"

I was sold on eBooks because I could instantly start a new book without having to carry two books when at the end of one.

Rarely. Basically just cookbooks, reference type books and some stuff that just doesn't have a digital option. Occasionally I'll get something a book store that's not one of those but maybe once a year if that.

I do. But only after I've already read it and know it's something I truly want a physical backup/trophy of
