Author Sort Problem

My Kindle sorts books in alphabetic order of first name.
I lately found you can make it work correctly by selecting "Use author sort for author" in the output, either MOBI or AZW3.
However, although I have set this up in output preferences it is not reflected in the output conversion box, I have to select it every time I convert a book.

Does anyone know how to make it the default option?

PREFERENCES: Output options:<kindle type formats:multiple to set>: Tick use Author sort

Preferences is the DEFAULT that will be used for the FIRST TIME a book is converted.
If a book has been converted, it will store the settings used at that time. There is a Tick or Button (depends on mode) Restore Defaults, that will cause convert to re-read the current (preferences) setting
