Is it worth having both?

Hi all,

I just recently converted to an e-reader. Because most of my family has had Kindles and because I wanted 3G, I got the Kindle Touch. Surprisingly, I've come to enjoy the e-reader experience (although I still by the physical book for those special titles ).

Prior to purchasing my Kindle, I was a frequent and regular B&N customer. Although it may sound odd, I miss that experience and feel a little guilty about having abandoned a retailer that has been so good to me over the years. Also, I'm growing more and more concerned about being locked into a platform. So, I'm now considering purchasing a NST.

What do you all think? Is it worth owning both? Or, will it become too much of a hassle to manage the ebook libraries?

Thanks!

If you know how, you could always convert your Kindle books to work on a Nook (or the other way around) - there are probably guides on the internet you could find by searching.

I personally prefer my NST to Kindles that I've used in the past, but I'm not sure I would bother keeping two ereaders around unless I was sharing one with someone.

No trouble at all, just good fun

I have two eReaders to care for now, my wife's Kobo and my Nook ST

Also organise a friends Kindle Touch and show people at our computer club how to use their Kindles

Using Calibre makes looking after the different eReaders a piece of cake

Go ahead get yourself a Kindle Touch, there such a bargain and it's good fun having different eReaders to play with

Thanks for your replies.

Truthfully, I'm a bit of a gadget junkie, so I'm just looking for an excuse to pick up the nook -- especially since they came out with the GlowLight.

The only clear advantages I see to the Kindle is that borrowing library books is so easy because they will transfer over wifi rather than USB, and having 3G access (although I haven't needed to use it since getting the Kindle in January). But the nook is just so much more comfortable to hold and the UI just seems more intuitive and friendly, somehow.

What I'm thinking of doing is keeping my Kindle for library books so I don't lose the ease of downloading directly, and picking up the nook for books that I purchase so that I'm not locked into a single ecosystem.

Hmmm...this gadget junkie thinks this sounds like a good excuse to pick up a new toy.

I have the Kindle touch and the fire. I recently purchased the Nook STR and the Nookcolor when B&N offered both for $135 on ebay. It was definitely an impulsive purchase. I love the STR. It feels great in my hands and is so light. I haven't touched the kindles since these arrived. I say go for it.
