Jim Baen will be missed.

Just found the note on Teleread: Jim Baen goes to another universe

This is a great loss to the ebook world.

Yes, that is sad news, indeed. May his legacy grow stronger and stronger each year. He has done a good work.

Another good overview of Jim Baen's life and legacy.

Specifically of interest to many

Very shortly, Eric Flint, Jody Dorsett, Wil McCarthy, myself, and a few others will be announcing the formation of the Science Fiction Public Library...a direct outgrowth of the Baen Free Library, which will be dedicated to keeping good science fiction from going completely out of print, and helping the handicapped fan by making sure that they can have the same experience my daughter, and thousands of blind and dyslexic fans of SF and Fantasy have already had, thanks to Jim Baen.

Jim Bean will be missed. He was one of the few that thought of and realized more sales in books by offering titles as affordable ebooks and free ebooks. You definatly hooked me on a couple of authors that would have gone by unoticed otherwize. May this be continued and other publishers follow your insight.
