I'm waiting for them to increase the PPI. This is really a product that I would want otherwise

I didn't have a lot of patience with that video. When they did an update, they never showed it updating.
That style of artwork (screen print) looks good with slabs of color. I'd rather see a "mean" image like a gradient. |

If it's Gallery 3, then the panels are also sold to shops by other companies. The PPI (aka dpi) can be quite low for that application and of course update/refresh time (tragically slow on Gallery) doesn't matter for shop posters or the same thing sold as "digital art frames".
Should be roughly similar to HiColor VGA displays in colour and contrast range, about 60,000+ total. It's a hard sell to retail as the LCD and LED panels allow video and are now in 4:1 approx and very large sizes. Also cheaper and much better colour. The Gallery only really an advantage for static outdoors displays in sunshine. |

From Pocketbook's web page, they are using a Spectra 6 panel. Very similar to the Gallery 3 in using a microcup using white/red/green/blue particles. The devices also use Sharp's IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) technology.
