You want the kfx file that is in the Items01 folder, not a subfolder of that. (Thanks to j-howell for pointing this out to someone over at the github.)

I stopped buying ebooks from Amazon in 2021. Downloaded everything and converted to epub, bought a Kobo and never looked back. Using Calibre to manage everything, and I'm quite happy with my somewhat hackable Kobo Clara HD. Put a 32 GB micro sd card in it and I call it my Library of Congress.

All the models from K3 to and including PW1 can't do KFX, but do azw3 (if updated, some didn't originally do azw3). Curiously we switched entirely to D&T when Amazon switched to KFX because we preferred the azw3. Then also it made sense for backups and later when we all got Kobo ereaders.
As we've seen, Adobe added "advanced typesetting" to ePub without changing anything about ePub. Amazon could have done the same thing with KF8 and updated the software for "advanced typesetting". There was no need at all for KFX (awful format). And one major advantage of KF8 is that when an eBook is supposed to be without DRM, it is unlike KFX that has DRM even if the publisher requested no DRM. When a publisher says no DRM, you get no DRM with ePub.

That won't happen. Amazon has already said devices with WiFi are going to still be able to download eBooks. So the only Kindles being dumped are the K1, K2, DX, and DXG.

The exact statement from Amazon’s email is, “You can, of course, continue to read Kindle content using Kindle for Web, or the free Kindle apps for Android, iOS, Mac, and PC as well as supported Kindle devices with WiFi capability.”

The word “supported” there has me concerned. One interpretation is any device with WiFi. Another is any device still new enough to be receiving firmware updates. Time will tell.

This is NOT what Amazon told me. Amazon told me, "as well as supported Kindle devices with WiFi capability." Emphasis mine. Do you have positive confirmation from Amazon that my Paperwhite 3 is a "supported Kindle device"? If so, please cite your source.

Thank you.

I'm having a (possibly) different issue with the bulk-downloader. Neither
https://github.com/Jedi425/BulkKindl...wnloader/pulls or https://github.com/thekevincurry/Bul...eUSBDownloader have an Issues tab, which would be a better place to ask, so it's here for now.

I was able to successfully run the bulk download the other day, but it was through the Paperwhite 11th Gen device. I'm trying to re-run it with my newly registered Kindle 4th Gen.

When I've tried to re-running the bulk-download since yesteryday, regardless of the device I choose, I'm getting an error:
Code:
Warning: Failed to download B07VXK7FNS check logs for additional details.
'content-disposition'
Any idea what that's about? Thank you!

Lightbulb Can someone remove DRM from my Kindle eBooks, 2025 Kindle?

Hello,

New to the e-reader game. I got a Kindle 2024 for Xmas and want to swap to Kobo ecosystem. I have downloaded my 12 or so Kindle ebook files.

CAN SOMEONE REMOVE THE DRM FOR ME? Is this possible?

Cheers,

AHM

The WiFi devices are supported as they have support to download eBooks. Amazon would not put out such a statement and then take away the ability to download eBooks on Kindles with WiFi.

I see too many people here interpreting this incorrectly. What I see it meaning is WiFi Kindles are going to be able to download eBooks and non-WiFi Kindles are out.

Don't. They're probably isn't very many of them. Springer is one of the better publishers with regards to libraries. When you get a digital copy from a university library from Springer it's not DRM encumbered so you can use it forever. And they often let you choose between ePub and PDF.

For a lot of most of what they publish you don't want anything BUT the PDF or print replica anyways. Anything with equations is instantly ruined because they do that typical thing of replacing equations with images which don't resize anyways and usually cause the book to take up more space than the PDF.

Well this whole thread is very interesting. I always backup and liberate all of my books as soon as I buy them. I have since before "Kindle" ever existed. After a lot of internal struggle, I decided to trade page turn buttons for a flush screen and symetrical shape and purchased the Kindle Colorsoft. I am actually very happy with it. My plan was to purchase everything from Amazon and no more sideloading. Then Amazon has to come along and ruin it. Oh well, back to Kobo I go for purchases.

They are supported because they can download over WiFi is certainly one interpretation, probably even the correct one. But not the only possibility. The door is open for Amazon to cut off older devices at any time by labeling them as "unsupported".

Your interpretation is not the only possible interpretation. In one of our first interactions here on MobileRead you told me that "BPL" could only refer to the Boston Public Library and not the Brooklyn Public Library.
