How to manage multiple Calibre Libraries / Sync devices?

Good evening and thanks for the add. I have Calibre installed on a cople of Windows PCs, Linux laptops and Android tablets. My library contains a huge amount of reference material such as PDF data sheets, manuals and books etc. Im self employed doing I.T. support so I have a number of different devices including Windows / Linux laptops & desktops, and Android tablets. I also have a couple of old Ipads in excellent condition that would be perfect as book readers if it wasnt for their limited storage capacity and lack of SD slots, or Calibre support.

In a nutshell I'd like to find a way to keep all of my ebooks, PDF's etc in one location (That is regularly backed) up but for sub folders / libaries to be available on different devices.

For instance, I use an old android table in my campervan. I'd like to keep a library that includes materials I use in my hobbies such as scuba diving and field sports as well as some fictional books for downtime. My work laptop (Microsoft Surface Pro) needs work related info, but I dont need to carry around any fiction ebooks, diving charts, maps or similar material. There are files I'd like on my Android phone, but not too many as the SD card is used for music and I dont need to buy another mobile phone just for the extra storage

At the moment, I'm manually adding files to each device and saving a copy of new files via a cloud folder which I then import into the library on my "Main PC" (when I get round to it) so it gets backed up to my server.

What would be good is to have multiple libraries similar to categories on the main PC with each device syncing only the library (content) i need for that device.

Is there a plugin or method that will do this for me? I'm pretty competent with technology and have ample cloud storage space if it can be done that way. BUT I want the content on each device to be mirrored / sync'd prior to travelling and not reliant on a data conection which I may not have on a boat or in a remote camping location or foreign country.

Thanks in advance. Al.

I moved this to the Library Management forum.

You can probably achieve most of what you want with calibre's out-of-the-box features and existing plugins… calibre is more like a tool box than the single purpose app like a video player etc.

If you want a plugin to implement the workflow you suggest precisely then you will probably have to develop it yourself or pay someone. Most of the plugins you see here were developed by the person who first wanted them.

I'll leave to others to suggest how you might get what you want.

If you use the calibre web server and configure users, you can set which libraries the user can access which might meet some of your needs.
