I would think you could install the firmware and then reset the Kindle to remove the remnants of the jailbreak.

Also, by sideloading vanilla firmware the system still hangs at 97% and then reboots, will the DO_FACTORY_RESET be able to complete its steps to reset in such state? Last edited by autogris; 01-25-2025 at 12:25 PM. |

Just a feedback: I couldn't find any answers to my questions, nor find the specific reasons behind the brick, and so I resorted to the factory reset. The filesystem was, as I suspected, in some messed up state between jb and original firmware. It did formatted the device, but reapplying the jailbreak wasn't smooth as the first time. It threw error messages regarding missing files when loading the demo mode, eventually I could get to install LanguageBreak, but then again later I had some trouble installing the hotfix, as it was keeping under some kind of semi-jailbreak state. Eventually, with some insistent rebootings and putting screen to sleep throughout the process it seems to have completed all steps, and is on a stable state now.
My lesson with this experiment: it is very hard to find detailed explanations on how jailbreak works, and how kindle paperwhite 11th internals work, also you can easily mistake different models solutions which are incompatible with this model and be misled by cryptic lingo, it's almost a black box with very little room to experiment if you are not already part of the veteran niche who are already deeply knowledgeable about its functioning. Just do this if you are really comfortable with the possibility of bricking your device beyond repair. |
