Found a way to fix this

Download your kindle's latest update from https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...MQC26VQQMM8XSW

Copy it to home directory of your kindle device
and restart your device

It will then install and restart the kindle
Then you get to pick your passcode and you reach home page.

Copy that "restore.sh" to root / top level of the kindle drive > rename the file to "emergency.sh" "> force a reboot by holding the power button for 15s?

I'm not sure what would be the state of the "bridge" Upstart job after doing a factory reset on device with firmware 5.17.1 or newer. If it still runs that job it should check for the existence of "/mnt/us/emergency.sh" and execute any code you put there.

What did you use originally to rename ota binaries? KUAL extension "renameotabin" or @Marek's "scriptlet" from Discord severe or that thing that does both OTA rename and disables sending logs to Amazon?
I followed the method listed here and used the KUAL to disable the OTA updates: https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaking/WinterBreak/

I'm sorry for being inexperienced with this, but how might I go about making a shell script to try and undo it? I assume I'd make a .txt, but I'm unsure of what to put in the script,

I see that having the official firmware seems to be a fix, but the colorsoft still doesnt have it available yet

So, take the "renameotabin/bin/restore.sh" file and do as instructed in my quoted comment.

Hello! I have went ahead and tried adding the restore.sh from the "renameotabin" to the top level of the kindle and change the name of the shell script to "emergency", but still no luck it seems.

Just to be sure, I supposed to just copy the emergency.sh shell script and not add anything to it, correct?

And I wasnt supposed to copy anything else over?

Now you probably should reinstall the hotfix package.
