A first run glitch when running Preferences. I think I'm going to play with this in a virtual machine over the next day or so.

@Kovid, could this be related to stored geometries? If so then it would happen once when the dialog is opened using the "old" geometry. The geometry would be updated when the dialog is closed so it doesn't happen again.

From the screenshots it looks like a resizing issue of widgets inside the dialog. Not the dialog itself. Their geometries are not stored and the geometry of the overall dialog *shouldnt* affect this.

since yesterday Calibre doesn't work anymore. Both versions 32bit and 64bit.
i can start it, but nothing more. Freeze with no response anymore. Oh and if i wanted to close the sh*t, it takes a while. Task Manager close? Nope, no response too. ALT+F4, Nope, no response i had to wait. Soo sad to see because i loved calibre many, many, many years. Atm i uninstall calibre. yours Sumi |

The fact that Task Manager does not Kill the Calibre process, indicates a way deeper SYSTEM issue than Calibre. Calibre was just the trigger that tripped your system problem. It may be bad cooling (fans or vents clogged). |

Well, as most of us aren't experiencing this problem, then it must have something to do with your computer. Otherwise there would be hundreds of reports of Calibre no longer working. There aren't.

Well, there are quite a few people running 7.16, so there is something else happening.
Microsoft is always updating (as well as others). Something changed. If you feel 7.16 is the issue, go to the official download (if you did not keep a copy of 7.15) and download the previous version. |

Now I have a new issue that's popped up. I decided to test Preferences again and when I clicked on Output options, I got a dialog saying Waiting for printer. When I cancelled it, I got the correct dialog from Output options.
I'll get a screen gram if it happens again. |

I've only seen it with calibre. Maybe I'm just lucky until today.
