Change location of configuration folder
Hi
I have 2 logons: administrator and normal user. Is there a way to change the location of the configuration data so that I have the same setup regardless of which user I log on as? If not I can set up a routine as part of my daily backup to sync the 2 folders. |

Hallo,
i want exactly the same, because only me is working on my PC. So i tried to change the environmnt path in windows in this way: Environment variables in Windows 8.1 has this: variable: CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY value: d:\Calibre_Einstellung But Calibre don't use this and the settings stay in user. What do I do wrong? |

I can only assume you didn't properly set the environment variable...

Environment settings
Yes, I set the Variable in System/Advanced System Settings, then Advanced tab and Environment Variables.
variable: CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY value: d:\Calibre_Einstellung I restart windows but nothing changes. What have I done wrong? I use Calibre x64 as admin and user. |

It works fine for me on Win7 pro/64.
Here is the definition of the environment variable. Here is the environment variable shown with the others. Here is the environment variable shown in a DOS box. When I start calibre it opens the library pointed at by the environment variable. |

For me - and I did exactly the same - it don't work, but perhaps because most of the time I prefer to work as simple user.
I check my settings several times and only one thing may bring the solution. When I look at the windows environment variables, theres a name above the windows....and it's not mine. There I found the name of the admin. I have to test if the variable works for the admin now but even if it did so, I also need this value for normal user. |

Try using SETX from a command prompt (as your simple user)
SETX CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY d:\Calibre_Einstellung |

Or start calibre using a .bat file containing something like
Code:
set CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY=D:\CBH_Data\calibre.git\config_test_small calibre |
