The Consequences of Long-Term Furniture Ownership (and my publishing status)
Woo-Hoo!!! Working on broadening my ebook availability and possibly moving away from Amazon/Kindle
The Consequences of Long-Term Furniture Ownership is now available on Smashwords and soon on Kobo, Barnes&Noble, and many others, including library/overdrive availability. I've been exclusively on Amazon for many years - well over a decade but unsure when my first self-publication was. (I need to look that up!) But Amazon's recent notice of removing/eliminating Download and Transfer ability pushed me over the edge and I may or may not remain there. This book was more or less a test to determine the difficulty of re-publishing on another platform - Draft2Digital. Definitely some issues with uploading a MSWord docx file which is what I did/worked out as the best way to publish on Amazon. After abandoning that method and uploading a converted docx -> epub it worked much better with only a few edits. In particular I wanted to make sure it handled the formatting of the poems properly and for now it looks good. P.S. a lot of little kinks I had to iron out to get formatted properly to publish via Draft2Digital but now that I’ve successfully published this one should have more to follow. I won’t bore you with every update as it rolls out but may post again when all is complete. Draft2Digital allows you to publish quite widely including to Amazon so my future publications are likely going through it and I may or may not continue to sell on Amazon. As they say, We'll see. (also Apple Books rejected it because I mention my Amazon Author Site in the ‘About the Author’ text. ![]() ![]() |

Maybe you guys (or some of you) know all about this site but it's new to me and associated with my new publishing venture - books2read
More about my new publishing/republishing adventure I republished my first Prosthetic Amalgams book at Draft2Digital … it’s still propagating to a few sellers/outlets but the process was much easier the second time and should not have much trouble moving the remaining 10 or so books from Amazon. Also I just found out about and associated site to Draft2digital - Books2Read which basically provides a ‘universal’ URL for authors (or readers) books which lists all the sellers who offer your book for various e-reader devices and formats (mobi, epub, etc.) This is / can be immensely helpful in marketing one’s books. For example here are the links to my two books I’ve republished this week: Like this for Prosthetic Amalgams: https://books2read.com/u/3yNNnv and this for The Consequences of Long-Term Furniture Ownership: https://books2read.com/u/bo5V10 |
