If your firmware is 5.16.3 or higher then there is nothing to do except wait for the hardfloat version of the python packages to be developed, unless you have programming skills and can help create them.

A note from Bookfere may be useful (sucessful on my kindle oasis3 with 5.17+ and WB)
Regarding the installation of the screen saver hack for versions 5.17 and above:

After jailbreaking, ensure that KUAL and Mrpi are functional.

Then, install usbnetlite via MRPI (https://github.com/notmarek/kindle-u...ases/tag/1.0.M).
In KUAL, select USBNetLite -> Toggle USBNetwork.

Connect the Kindle to the internet, and SSH into the Kindle from your computer: `ssh root@[kindle IP] -p 22`. (The default pw is 'kindle')
Using WinSCP, execute the following commands in sequence:
1. `mntroot rw`
2. `ln -s /lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3 /lib/ld-linux.so.3`
3. `mntroot ro`

After completing these steps, you can proceed to install the screensaver hack using Mrpi as usual.

WinSCP sounds like a windows tool. Would the same commands work on a Mac by any chance?

Those commands are Linux CLI command executed on the Kindle itself, over a SSH connection. WinSCP was just the means to create a SSH connection to Kindle on Windows OS. You should be able to do the job using MacOS's Terminal?

I get a "Package script failed (127)" error when trying to install this on my PW4, even after the SSH root fix. Is there any way around this?

On 5.17+. Got this all working and screensaver hack installed but it will not show a cover. It will get stuck on processing cover and I have to force restart. Then once logged in, it only shows the "the screensavers hack is currently in cover mode but hasn't yet successfully processed a book cover". Does this fix bypass the need to install python? Python will still fail during install with a script error even after this ssh fix. I put a blank file named cover in the correct folder already and left a book open for 5 minutes.

I just used Winterbreak to jailbreak my 2019 Kindle basic, and that seems to have gone well. But I am now trying to use the screensaver hack. I tried the one on the first page of this thread, but it did not work. Is there an updated hack that is compatible with the Winterbreak method? Thanks.

It's not the WinterBreak method. It is that with firmware 5.16.3 or newer, Amazon switched to using hardware floating-point replacing the older software floating-point. That is why you will see hf added to the name of files for newer firmware. i.e. KOReader will use kindlehf (koreader-kindlehf-v2024.11-270-ga3d4e9754_2025-03-19.zip for instance).
