Tried this on my Clara HD with a SanDisk 128GB, works like a charm.
However, I'm trying to upgrade a standard Glo with a 64GB card, but it does not seem to recognize the new partition sizes. Experimenting a bit for now, might try with a 32GB card and seeing what happens. |

I was in a similar situation as cowchair with my Kobo Libre. I flashed the revision E image onto a new microSD card using dd and gparted to expand the FAT32 partition.
It worked, but unfortunately I'm unable to update the software anymore. It checks for updates, downloads the update, but after restarting its stuck on the same version. I got past the setup stage using these instructions: https://yingtongli.me/blog/2018/07/30/kobo-rego.html and tried manually updating by extracting the update into the .kobo folder, but still no luck. It's stuck on software version 4.32.19501. Also has a blank serial number. As of now the eReader is still usable with Calibre, but unfortunately I can't download from my local library with overdrive, as syncing from overdrive also triggers a software update check. Did anyone have this same problem? |

Then, I'm able to insert it into the Clara, but it forces me to do a factory reset. I do so, and also unzip the latest stock firmware to be safe. I'm now able to see the full storage listed on the device, but now there is no easy way to restore my previous books and settings (except slowly uploading them). I tried to copy the directory from the previous card, but it's a mess. |

hi guys, My old SD card is broken, so I have to reflash the img into my Kobo Clara 2E. thanks David for helping me out with the img file.
However, no matter how hard I've tried, the device is not turned on, and LED indicator just keep blinking forever and non-stop. My steps were: 1. Download img David sent 2. Format new sd card 3. Use FlashDriveImage writer to write the img file into SD card 4. It shows 3 drives, I extended the SD card storage (KOREADER) by MiniWizard Partition 5. Input back into Kobo Clara 2E 6. It won't boot up and LED keep blinking I tried to again and again and again.... 2-3 times but no luck. I can be sure that I did the steps very careful. I don't know what to do now. I charged it for an hour but no hope. Any suggestions/help are highly appreciated, thanks a lot Last edited by hp123; 02-27-2025 at 09:22 AM. |

I want to try this with my Libra 2. What's the biggest sd card that should work?

I tried a 128GB µSD card in my Clara HD. It worked and all the storage was seen. However I ran into slowness issues when I stuffed so many ePubs onto the Clara HD that the KoboReader.sqlite was well over the RAM size making caching it in RAM a non-starter. If you are reading manga/comics where the file sizes are larger, that would not be as big an issue.
