Aura One. Stuck at "Importing 6%"
Hello!
I am having an issue of Aura One stuck at "importing 6%", after I have disconnected the e-reader from the PC. Even if I am not downloading/uploading anything to/from the e-reader. If I about to upload the books to the e-reader (either manually drag and drop or use Calibre), then there is issue, that they do not appear on the device book list, however if I am about to browse the storage from the PC, the books are definitely there. It happens on latest firmware "4.38.23171", but also on previous FW version as well - "4.38.23038", downgrading further seems to solve the problem (read below) somewhat. I have tried to factory reset, to disconnect/reconnect account and also repair it. Nothing of it helped. I contacted Kobo support, they said they will pass the program further to the IT department, so meanwhile I wonder, if the community knows how to solve it. Two unconvincing solutions I have found so far: 1) Use Kobo app on the PC and press "Sync" button there. It somewhat helps, but in theory it worked without the app before, so something is wrong (PC is Windows 11). 2) Downgrading to 4.38.21908 (August 2023) seems to solve the problem, importing happens instantly without troubles, but it worked before on modern firmware version as well, thus something is wrong. Downgrading and then upgrading (either through the e-reader itself or manually by dropping files in the ".kobo" directory) did not help. Problem began when I tried to modify the "ExcludeSyncFolders" value in ".kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf", under "[FeatureSettings]". After I modified in a wrong way, it deleted all the books (I had backup), and I believe (not 100% certain) after that problem arose. (There is no "ExcludeSyncFolders" in the file right now). Kobo firmwares I downloaded from here: https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html Last edited by ArkVlad; 12-18-2024 at 10:26 AM. |

Forgot to mention:
If it is stuck at "Importing 6%". Either the e-reader would restart itself, but nothing would get imported (again files are there, but books do not appear in the book list) or you have to manually shutdown and power it on. If you wait, nothing happens, at least after 10% minutes there was no progress. Upgrading/downgrading goes without problems, however. |

UPD: Solved?
I installed Nickelmenu (that I had prior to factory resetting the device) and now this importing problem seems to be gone. Pretty strange, that without Nickelmenu it had this bug... |

I also got the same behavior you described in your first post.
The PDF file blocking import is the LibreCAD user manual. I also tried to rewrote it using pdftk: Code:
pdftk manual.pdf cat output manual-new.pdf I'll try me too to install Nickel Menu (I used it in the past, but I uninstalled it). I think it allows to extend the timeout when loading a particular "heavy" PDF (i.e. with big images), even though my PDF is not so "heavy"... |

Heyo, went searching the internet and came upon this post.
I also have a Kobo One w/ current firmware 4.38.23171 10/29/24 and my kobo will reboot after failing to import at 6%. At first I thought the emmc might be failing b/c of too many writes but I see the pdf's in the folder when connected to the computer. I'm using linux and had Nickel installed on here previously. The issue started after upgrade to current firmware version, but I think it's worth noting Nickel was already installed prior to that upgrade. I'm going to try downgrading - thanks OP for the firmware links! Last edited by beowulf_lives; 01-17-2025 at 12:51 PM. |

Oh thank god
Downgraded to v4.38.21908 and importing PDFs is working once more. |
