That might just be THE Idea! Tolinos do read LCP. Haven't I seen discussions about kobofying ones Tolino? Maybe it works the other way around, too, and the OP could use their Clara with the Tolino software.

Considering that Kobo has already added LCP to their Tolino line of devices, it should be relatively simple for Kobo to add LCP to their Kobo line of devices.

Which would mean that unless the LCP DRM gets broken again (I'm not sure that the old deDRM version capable of removing it would still work with newer DRM versions), no more Kobo books for me. I will never, ever buy any ebook I cannot remove the DRM from. |

I sure hope Kobo doesn't adopt LCP. I get almost all of my books there since DeDRM works with ADE.

I was thinking more along the lines of the LCP DRM for library books since that is what the OP talks about. Kobos already have Overdrive/Libby integration and Adobe DRM authorization. Tolinos are Euro-kobos,no? Maybe they have the LCP because LCP is becoming common over there? I would not want to see Kobo switch to the LCP DRM for books it sells. Imagine having to enter a passphrase for every book you buy and download. Very tedious. Or is the passphrase based on the user account, and good for everything bought through that account?
Since the OP is in Sweden, would a Tolino be close enough to a Kobo for them? |

It's not as available as Kobo in most of Europe. In general, Android based ereaders are inferior to use to dedicated Linux based ereaders. LCP is not common in Europe for book sales. Maybe in some other regions for book sales (India?). It's used by libraries in some European countries. Maybe Italy? Libraries can change what app they use. The App can upgrade and stop working on an eink Android (Bolinda Borrowbox on eink Android 8 stopped working due to a Chrome dependency, but still worked on a mucch older Android 8 regular Tablet and phone). If you need an App, then use a tablet. Unfortunately with Nxtpaper there is no ereader aspect model less than 10″. I think Tolino is currently a bad option compared to regular Kobo. I bought an Android based eink for the Irish Libraries during Covid lockdown. The App no longer works AND the Irish libraries are changing to a different service provider. I was wondering if the OP might install the Tolino software on their Kobo, given that Tolinos are Kobo hardware and it is possible to install Kobo software on a Tolino.
Why people are wondering now - if Kobo will start to sell LCP protected ebooks - or integrate LCP reading to the Kobo software - or in which countries Tolinos are sold is totally beyond me. Reading comprehension seems to be - zero. Once again: The OP wants to read the LCP coded library books on their Clara. I am wondering if it would be possible to install Tolino software that can decode LCP, on said Clara. Is it possible or would it brick the Clara? |

I don't think anyone here knows whether it's possible to install the Tolino software on a Kobo. |

Oh dear. Poland has been selling watermarked only books for more than 12 YEARS now and you can download 3 formats after purchase (epub, mobi, pdf) No DRM of any kind, long gone.
