Audible sells podcasts that are free elsewhere?
I was trying to remember the name of a podcast read by Stanley Tucci that I had heard on the BBC. So when I Googled it and came up with "The Californian Century", I saw that Audible sells it for $13.07

The BBC has it for free at https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00...odes/downloads

Of course Audible has a blizzard of contrasting offers there if you subscribe. I'm hostile to anything that doesn't have a single flat monthly rate.

Amazon's Kindle also has many ebooks that are free due to PD elsewhere.

BBC content may also be geolimited, though that seems a bit random.l

Yes, but some of those PD books may have copyrighted "added value" like a foreword or a glossary. (Not added value to mean.)

BBC very often puts ads or fees on their content when it is offered outside of their primary mandate. This is just like any other publisher that sets different fees for different markets.

See Why have you purchased public-domain books? and it's split mostly between better formatting, better translations, and additional material.
