I didn't have any problems with the mechanics of the series - there are a million ways to do time travel - it just felt like a shallow copy of Connie Willis' Oxford Time Travel conceit.
I accept that plenty of people seem to like it. That's fine. I just felt a need to offer a counterpoint to JSWolf when it came up in the Deals thread. |

Am I allowed to vote even though I've not read any of the books?
Judging by this thread, I have an excellent idea of what I'd think of them. ![]() |

I've read the first five. I enjoyed all of them but they started to wear a little so decided to come back for more after a break. I like that they have both humour and the occasional serious streak - often in the same breath.
Of course, anyone expecting conventional time-travel rules (hmm, did I really just write that?) is going to have difficulties. I admit that I had difficulties, at first, in the jump from book 3 to book 4, but it settled in okay and I ended up liking what it added to the story. |

I've read the first three books and enjoy it very much. Yes, it's fluffy and the time travel has all sorts of holes in it, but so what? It's fun, and that's all I expect from it.
