Early 1930s colonial Kenya; something strange is happening in the undefined and disputed borderlands between Kenya and Abyssinia, with tales of "walking dead". This is the "serial" edition of the novel, undoubtedly somewhat condensed, and was published as a supplement to the Australian Women's Weekly in 1934.
