Yeah, seems to be mostly PDF scans with some multimedia capability and reader software?
Not sure what the big fuss is over, positive or negative. PDF is my only ebook format, and it looks like Blio will be similar. Not sure what market demands PDF with multimedia, unless it has advanced text to speech ability. |

No word on synthetic bugs, they'll probably make them to maintain the synthetic trees though.... |

It may have some utility, but hard to say. One thing is that the promise of cross-platform rarely works out quite as promised. E.g. if you do a layout for a 16:9 horizontal laptop screen, that layout will be a nightmare on a vertical smartphone screen. |

Whoo, calm down people !
Back on topic. I really see no point in yet another format. They need to get onto a standard and stick to. Right now, that standard is ePub, and I see noting that Blio can do that would justifiy changing everyting all over again. The ePub -> mobi switch was a mess enough, tank you very much. And downgrade to a non-reflow, closed format ? There is everything needed in css3 and html5, just a question of adobe implementing these. Last edited by EowynCarter; 12-30-2009 at 05:33 AM. |

This would be nice for Comics! Technical books, Recipe books... etc etc
Having this pretty looking app organise and give me access to those sort of books on my tablet seems like a nice option. dont really understand the hate as PDF doesnt really give me such a nice UI as this seems to. |

Well, yeah, but I kinda think the sales pitch was uncalled for as well. It's one thing to comment on a product and your thoughts about it, but when you are in charge of marketing for a competing product and post an advertisement, that's just not cool. |

still if you replaced "astek" with "ebook with eink screen" what he said would be perfectly valid so maybe not too bad imo |

Okay, I'm game: who is Ray Kurzweil?
Edit:ignore that, just Googled. So he's an inventor/programmer? Last edited by CallOfCth'reader; 12-30-2009 at 11:33 PM. |

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Kurzweil He was involved early in music synthesizers. His latest futurist books are predicting immortality of individuals through various means. Wild stuff. |
