Kobo to develop app independent of Apple?

Caught this article over at MediaBistro about Kobo developing a new iOS app that would be more adaptable to different platforms and potentially free it from Apple's (evil?) clutches.

Kobo to Release HTML5 App

What do folks make of this?

Interesting... The other thing I wonder about is from a Blog post by the IOS Software Chief Architect at Kobo. His blog is at http://quatermain.tumblr.com/ but read back to http://quatermain.tumblr.com/day/2011/07/11 where he mentions moving to work for Apple. I wonder if moving to a more HTML 5 based solution means less IOS integration?

(Just musing through the top of my head)

Per his twitter feed, he ended up not taking the job with Apple.

Looks like he mostly got comments from diehard Apple kissers! If I live to be 1000 years old I will never understand the psychology behind why some people are so passionate about the maker of a piece of hardware they buy, especially when they have zero vested interest in the company. I see this a lot with companies like Apple and Sony to name just a few. I gather from the illogical thinking postulated by most of these fanboy types that their must be a direct correlation between lack of intelligence and the desire to show more loyalty to a GD company, that doesn't know their name much less give a damn about them, than they will to a friend or to family. Apparently human evolution has branched yet again and a lesser species known as fanboy sapiens has appeared on earth. Where are those damn asteroids when you need them?!?
