'Send to Device' button missing

Been using Calibre for many years but today the 'Send to Device' button is missing. It has been a while since I last used it so just update to the latest version. I can see my Kindle Paperwhite as a storage device but Calibre doesn't show it.
Running on Linux Mint 20.2
What can I do to fix it?
Thanks
Mick

Thanks for your reply, I have been through the list and not fixed the problem.
The last point says "go to Preferences → Miscellaneous and click Debug device detection with your device attached" but I don't see that option under Preferences.

the button is there, but if you cant find it, then run

calibre-debug -d

in a terminal instead to generate the same debug output.

Thanks for that, looking at the output it is because the Kindle is mounting as root rather than as my user. I will investigate via the Mint forum.
