Kovid do you think it makes it easier to port to Win and Mac OS equally by developing the Calibre updates in Linux? That is by not being geared toward either one that it makes the program more generic and easier to adapt to the other two OS?

Yes, it does. Software that runs on linux often runs on other platforms as well, that is true of the two main components of calibre, python and Qt, both of which were developed on linux and still run on other OSes. Using these components and others like them is what makes cross-platform development possible.

First: Congrats!! Yeah! I just love Calibre.

On Qt: It was from day one a cross-plattform GUI toolkit. It's still amazing that I can run the same calibre on 3 Windows and 1 Linux box, linked through dropbox. Job very well done!
