Yes, 3G is absolutely worth the added cost to me.

I have a smart phone but refuse to pay the added monthly "data" fee. The Kindle 3G allows me to check email on the road, surf the web and so forth.

So, really, $50 is a one-time fee that saves me $30 per month.

Sure is I've used it in the USA, Sydney and Melbourne. Fabulous reception in all locations and no additional charges.
