It sounds as if you have the old calibre tools already installed and configured, you don't need these--but they would be handy with a new installation.

It probably has to do with an add-on I have installed, but even if I un-check it while using Firefox, it still tries to download the EXE and sets off my anti-virus alarm.
I had to download it using Internet Explorer (with the "use our downloader" unchecked) before it would just download as a normal ZIP file. |

When I try to download with Chrome (and Microsoft Security Essentials) I get the message "This file appears malicious" and a choice if I want to continue with the download or not.

Tools v6.0.1 have just been uploaded. Minor bug fixes, from what I can see.

I just experienced an odd redirect to kproxy that I think others have run into, which says "Invalid session - The session is invalid. You have to access KProxy main page to use it." And there didn't seem anyway to access the file.
I think it's happening because of how the url is split up on the line though on the originating page. If you copy the full link and then paste it into your browser, you'll get the real download link. Just remember to uncheck the box to use their download manager and you'll get just the tools and nothing else. |

Bad links at the apprentice alf
Found something disturbing when I went to apprentice alf's site to download the updated.
Both of the links are deceptive - they do not go to the website shown by the text. They go to the kproxy.com site with some obfuscated path which I assume encodes the real web site. Copying and pasting the URL text worked much better - it went directly to the zip file without the checkbox or the malware exe file. I know kproxy is supposed to be an anonymous site but its use is not mentioned on afl's page. It is also interesting that going to the download site directly bypassed the checkbox and exe download. And since the actual web site is obfuscated it is hard to determine exactly where you are being redirected. Just a heads up. kees Last edited by keeska; 03-26-2013 at 02:13 PM. Reason: Correction |

The links should be OK now. A copy/paste error when I made the new post announcing the update. (Although the links in the main post were fine.)

I use Chrome and did get the malicious file warning message. Downloaded anyway and ran a virus scan that came up clean. Then I tried the second link, it downloaded just fine, no warnings at all. So I tossed the first zip just in case and have the one from GoogleDocs. Thanks, Alf.
