Validation errors - draft to digital

I have been creating a book on Sigil. It is my first time. I have uploaded it to kindle without any problem, but when uploading to draft to digital i get a whole host of errors relating.
In Sigil I get no errors. In calibre I get errors relating to spine.

I had previously uploaded the book and had no problem. I had to do some little edits and then started to get the errors below.

I have transferred the book to my kobo and have no problem with it

I have no idea what to do! sorry!

You have missing and or broken links. You probably have file name or case differences. You also seem to be using an img tag inside an svg tag instead of an svg image tag, but that is a guess.

Go install Doitsu's wonderful epubcheck plugin for Sigil and run it.

It will report these errors and you can double click on each to take you to close to the error's position in your epub.

Post a snippet of code from a page with the img area in it and someone here will point out how to fix it.


There is a Reports tool in Sigil that can help track down broken or missing links.

As Kevin said, install the Epubcheck plugin. Sigil's validation is limited to making sure all xhtml is well-formed (open tags are closed and there are no tag nesting errors). That's all. Spec-compliance needs to be checked with third-party tools like Epubcheck.

I suggest that once you've fixed all of these errors that you replace the Kindle edition because that may have problems because of these errors.

D2D often rejects epubs because their clients (especially Apple) have requirements that go far beyond epub validation. The main problem is that the title, subtitle, and author of the book on D2D must exactly match the wording on both the uploaded cover and on the book's title page. Early on in this business, I often omitted the subtitle on the cover, used a variation of the magazine cover in which the book first appeared as an article, or added a sales pitch such as was regularly used on the dustcover of hardcover novels. For Apple and apparently for many others, such variations are rejected as an epubcheck failure.

You might want to consider that possibility.
