So now my cover says it's shipped and will be here tomorrow but nothing on the Kindle yet.

Alisa, what general area of CA are you in (I'm in the Central Valley)? I haven't seen a whole lot of CA Kindles being shipped (from reading the various boards) I wonder if they have a whole lot being sent from the Reno warehouse today for arrival tomorrow?
My case is out for delivery today, but I haven't seen any change on my K3 - still says expected delivery tomorrow. |

So we're pretty close (in the grand scale of things) It just seems to me that I have seen fewer CA deliveries than I would expect.
I'm clinging to my Reno-warehouse theory (it keeps me from losing my temper ) |

"Shipping Soon"
I hesitated to post because I'm a little angry. I've calmed down now and I'm still angry.
My account page started reading "Shipping Soon" just before noon August 26. I checked my bank account and my Kindle was billed at the same time so, since I'd paid for "next day delivery" (something I seldom do) I naturally thought that meant my Kindle should arrive today. (24 hours, right?) Today it changed to "Shipped." Joy! I clicked the tracking button only to discover it left their facility in Kentucky at noon today and is scheduled to reach me tomorrow. (48 hours, right?) I had rearranged my schedule to be home to accept the delivery so I was miffed and called Amazon CS to ask for a refund of the "next day delivery" charge (they didn't provide it, right? 48 =/= 24) No deal. Turns out Amazon has until August 27 to deliver the Kindle and shipping early was "an upgrade" that I apparently had no right to. No Kindle. No refund. So much for "next day delivery" |

Sure it can. 2 Day is two business days- shipping 2 day on a Thursday is a commitment to deliver some point the following Monday- and ground can make that.
In the same boat, though, I'd rather it come Friday than Monday |

Guess some of you peeps haven't dealt with pre-orders before. Some times companies ship things all over to the closest shipping facility, just to sit in a big pallet (without your knowledge or tracking #). Then come "The Day of Greatness" it's like Santa dipping into his big ole bag (pallet) and BOOM, you've got a tracking # and it's right outside your door

i expect the service called "Second Day" which would then deliver it more quickly. I guess it depends on whether they're talking about shipping METHOD or actual TRANSIT TIME. At any rate I'm still kind of pissed, because when I ordered mine it said to order now and choose 2 day shipping to "ensure release date delivery". To me that means they were promising to deliver it today and not SHIP it today. It's not gonna kill me of course, but it's just a disappointment. i planned to break it in this weekend when i have some down time to read.

My cover's on the way! Woo-hoo!
Unfortunately, there's nothing to put in it and no date yet for when that will be sent (I'm in Sep 4th batch unfortunately). |
